Walk the ground where it happened. This six-stop, eight-attraction journey moves through the heart of Halls Hill — a neighborhood built, sustained, and defended by the Black families who called it home for generations.
Along the way, you'll visit two of the community's founding churches, still standing as anchors of faith and gathering. You will stand on the Langston School site, where the four students who segregated schools in Virginia - breaking Massive Resistance attended elementary classes. You'll stand at Memorial Wall at Fire Station 8 — the first fire station below the Mason-Dixon Line created and staffed entirely by Black firefighters, established in 1918. You'll encounter public art and monuments honoring the neighborhood's longtime residents, and pause at memorial stumbling stones placed in honor of those once enslaved on this land.
Every stop is brought to life with multiple 11×17" reproductions of historic photographs and documents — so you don't just hear how a place looked across generations, you see it.

Extended Tour — 1.1 miles · up to 8 guests · Everything in the Standard Tour, plus the historic Segregation Aall site and additional points of interest along the way.
