The Full Geography of Black Arlington

Some stories cannot be told from a single street corner.

The Black Arlington Scholars Circuit is the most comprehensive student experience ABHE offers, moving across the full geography of Arlington County to trace the complete arc of Black community life, from Freedman's Village and Queen City through Green Valley, Johnson's Hill, and Halls Hill.

Five distinct communities. Nearly 300 years of history. One seamless narrative, told by the only guide who carries all of it.

This is the experience for student groups who want the whole story, the resistance and the brilliance, the erasure and the survival, the history that shaped this region and was systematically left out of its telling. Research-grade archival materials are presented throughout, drawn from the Arlington Center for Local History, the Library of Virginia, and Wilma's personal family collection.

The Black Arlington Scholars Circuit is the full version of the Scholars Tour Series, more stops, deeper immersion, broader geography, and a longer engagement with the primary source historian whose family lived this story.

• The story of Freedman's Village, one of the most significant Reconstruction-era communities in America, which was located at Arlington National Cemetery

• The desegregation of Arlington public schools, told by the sister of one of the Stratford Four

• Green Valley, Johnson's Hill, and Halls Hill, the three remaining historically Black communities built by Black Arlingtonians and Queen City, PelhamTown, East Arlington, Butler-Holmes, and others almost erased from the county's official history

ABHE meets the operational standards required by DMCs, luxury tour organizations, corporate incentive and procurement teams. We carry $1,000,000 in general liability coverage and maintain absolute client privacy - no guest photography, no social media, and no disclosure of client or attendee information.
